If you have oily skin or combination skin with an oily T-zone, you most likely don’t appreciate incorporating a face oil into your skincare routine.
The thought of a greasy forehead, sticky layers or unbreathable skin is just too much because we’ve been there! But hey, have you tried a face oil serum for your oily skin instead?
*Disclaimer: This article is in collaboration with Ora’s Herbal. I received Ora’s Herbal Daily Nourish Face Oil Serum for my combination skin (with an oily T-zone). After 3 weeks of using the face oil serum, I share my honest opinion.
There is a rising reputation of skincare products with an oil base in the market especially more so now. And truly, oils have been used since ancient times for skin care.
We are aware of the benefits face oils can give our skin, from nourishment to delivering concentrated ingredients to the inner and outer layer of the skin.
Your skin tends to produce more oil in the warmer months of summer making you look so greasy at worst cases. Also, in the colder months of winter, your skin could be left dry, dull, and longing for that natural oil production.
Thus, adding oil to your skincare routine is a simple way to repair your skin from these stresses while allowing it to retain moisture.
The right oil will also brighten and strengthen your skin’s natural barrier while fighting off acne-causing bacteria. We all want that!
So yes, you might need to use oil in your skincare routine even if your skin is usually always oily.
An oil is beneficial for all skin types. You can pick the right one, and if you feel warry, consider a face oil serum.

Note…
A face oil is an oil-based product made out of plant oils. You can find these products in single face oil, for example, like argan oil or grapeseed oil. In other cases, you can find them in beautiful blends as well.
A face oil serum allows you to experience the benefits of a face oil and a serum, all in one product. They tend to be lightweight that face oils yet slightly thicker than face serums.
Thus, you acquire essential supplements for your skin and they are able to deeply penetrate the skin while sealing in the moisture.
I have combination skin with an oily T-Zone. And after receiving the Daily Nourish Face Oil Serum from Ora’s Amazing Herbal, I was skeptical at first, since I thought, I already had enough oils and my pores were getting too clogged already.
But I went on ahead after going through the list of ingredients and being convinced that the face oil serum would work for the irritation I had on my skin.
Thus, this review…

A Look Into The Ingredients
Vitis vinifera (Grapeseed Oil, Non-Gmo):
Due to its vitamin E and omega-6 fatty acid content, it battles free radicals, tightens skin pores and helps reduce inflammation in the skin’s middle and outer layers.
Grapeseed oil penetrates your skin quickly and doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily. Since grapeseed oil doesn’t clog pores, it’s ideal for all skin types, including oily skin that needs moisturizing.
Infused With Organic Calendula officinalis (calendula), Organic Symphytum officinale (comfrey), Organic Plantago major (Plantain), Organic Hypericum perforatum (St. John’s Wort), Organic Arctium lappa (Burdock) And Organic Thymus vulgaris (Thyme):
Calendula oil has antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that might make it useful in healing wounds, soothing eczema, and relieving skin rashes.
Symphytum, a compound in comfrey, when used regularly on the skin, makes it softer, more supple and elastic. Even skin with large pores can benefit from it.
Plantain has germicidal and antibacterial properties and helps to reduce inflammation, pain, relieve itching, and prevent scarring by regenerating new skin cells quickly.
St.John’s Wort is known for protecting the skin against sun damage.
Burdock has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that can help resolve skin issues like acne, psoriasis, and eczema. Also, as a powerful antioxidant, burdock helps prevent free radical damage.
Thyme oil is effective at reducing acne-causing bacteria on the skin.
Organic Prunus armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil:
Apricot Kernel Oil moisturizes dry, sensitive skin and smooths out blemishes, wrinkles, fine lines, and other symptoms of maturing skin. It also facilitates faster healing without leaving a greasy residue.
Limnanthes alba (Meadowfoam) Oil:
Meadowfoam seed oil doesn’t sit on the skin but some of its fatty acids can be absorbed into the skin. And since the oil is similar in texture to sebum, it offers protection to the skin from the elements, thus, a softer, plumper skin.
It also contains vitamin E, a natural antioxidant, which helps protect the skin against damage from the sun and pollution.
Organic Olea europaea (Olive) Oil:
Olive oil moisturizes the skin by reducing water loss, heals and repairs the skin and its antioxidant properties protect skin cells against environmental damage and inflammation.
Organic Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Oil:
Rosehip powder offers several anti-aging properties, including the ability to keep skin moisturized and helps reduce inflammation.
By the look at all these ingredients, it’s already evident what one’s skin can benefit from using this face oil serum:
- Healing of the skin especially from rashes and scarring.
- Keeping your skin acne-free thanks to its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.
- A supple, plump well-moisturized skin.
- Protection from environmental aggressors like the sun’s rays and pollution.
Thus, let’s confirm if this is true!
How I Use My Ora’s Amazing Herbal Lightweight Daily Nourish Face Oil Serum
I normally use Ora’s amazing herbal face oil serum at night before going to bed. However, you can repeat the process in the morning if desired.
Like me, you may only want to use oils before bed so that your skin can soak them up overnight and provide protection throughout the day.
So, here’s how I use it:
- Cleanse your face. I use Ora’s Herbal face cleansing powder which offers me the benefits of a good deep cleanse, masking, and exfoliating properties.
- I slather a significant amount of a water cream on my face and leave it on for 5 minutes as a hydrating mask.
- Rinse off my face with water and pat it dry with my Down’s silk face towel. This leaves my face slightly damp.
- I then wear my favorite moisturizer from Curology.
- Afterward, I wear Ora’s Amazing Herbal face oil serum to seal in the moisture and that’s it.
- During the day, I wear SPF but at night, I’m ready for my sleep.
Remember to place 2-3 drops onto fingertips and massage together, afterward, gently press oil onto a clean face and neck. This warms the oil up before you can use it on your face.
On other occasions, I directly use 2-3 drops on my face (forehead and cheeks) then massage it on my skin.
Upon application, your skin will feel instantly moisturized and look as radiant as ever with just a few drops. The best part is the luxurious, soft & supple texture of your face while applying it.
The face oil serum is also perfect for a facial massage.
Before & After Images
I’ve been using this face oil serum for over 3 weeks now and the results are evident. See my before and after images below:
I actually started using the face oil serum when my face started acting up from using a Vitamin C serum that I was using nightly, only to learn that I was to use it occasionally and at night. At that point, my face developed a lot of rashes you can see on the image before.
I quit the Vitamin C serum and just used my cleanser, the water cream as a mask occasionally, my Curology moisturizer, and this face oil serum.
All of these skincare products are very gentle on the skin, and my skin appreciates that.
Upon using the face oil serum, I noticed a reduction in the rashes within 3 days, and 3 weeks later, my face is happier.
I also had anti-fungal acne around my forehead and was amazed that this face oil serum is anti-fungal and indeed, it really helped with that since my forehead is cleaner.
I’m definitely going to continue using it, and see how great my skin will be.

Verdict
I use this every night & my face feels so clean & soft afterward. I haven’t had any breakouts since using it either! So, definitely, I am recommending it!
And with how gentle it and organic it is, literally every skin type can appreciate this face oil.
But those with oily or combination skin with acne (especially anti-fungal acne) will love it more since it doesn’t clog pores at all!
How To Use A Face Oil or A Face Oil Serum
1. Wear It Last or Before your Sunscreen
When you layer your face oils or face oil serums over products, they help increase your routine’s efficacy while also leaving skin soft and smooth. So, just make sure to always, always, apply them last.
The best thing is that oils can easily penetrate moisturizers, serums, and treatments, but no products can penetrate an oil, which means they need to be applied last.
Note…
If you choose to wear your face oil or face oil serum during the day, wear sunscreen last-after your oil. Sunscreen is just an additive to offer protection from harsh UV rays, it isn’t trying to penetrate anything.
2. Don’t Apply It Too Often
If you have very dry skin, you can use an oil day and night. But if you have combination or oily skin, you might want to use an oil only once a day, or just at night.
3. Dab or Pat Oils Into Your Skin
Yes, you’re used to running in the moisturizer. However, you shouldn’t be rubbing the oils into your skin, instead, dab or pat the oils, pushing them into your pores, rather than just sliding them around on the skin’s surface.
This will help your skin absorb the oil and make use of its benefits much quicker.
4. Use Just A Couple Drops
Face oils and face oil serums contain such concentrated amounts of nutrients, as you’ve seen in the ingredients list above. Thus, a little bit goes a long way.
You only need one to three drops of your oil is enough to cover your whole face and deliver the benefits your skin needs.
Above all, remember to use a face oil or a face oil serum that is right for your skin type!
